Past Event: Seminar: ASTP Research - Partial Discharge Monitor
Friday 6th August
2:00pm - 4:00pm
EnergyAustralia Auditorium
570 George Street, Sydney
Overview
The ASTP (Australian Strategic Technology Program) is a group of 9 Australian Electricity Distribution and Transmission businesses, and has been established to foster research & development for the member organisations. The ASTP has been operating now for over 10 years in its current form, and in that time has established itself as the driver behind ongoing support for technology solution development for the electricity industry, especially by Universities. Its current chairman, Patrick McMullan will give a presentation on current activities and research projects, and directions for the future. This will then be followed by details of a successful research project at UNSW which developed the partial discharge monitor (PDM) for on-line insulation condition monitoring applications. Technical features about the PDM system will be presented by Toan Phung (UNSW). The device has been used successfully in the field and, for demonstration, a number of case studies on power cables will be presented by Graham Burgess (Integral Energy).
