This seminar will discuss the application of information in minimising outages & mitigating risk on electrical transmission and distribution networksRecent events in Western Australia will be discussed along with existing Network Management Tools including why Schematic Views are used; how GIS is used and Modelling of the Network (Trending, DPA, DA)Finally minimising outages & mitigating risk using new Network Management Tools will be discussed including;

  • Batch Processing of Meter Data
  • Sensitive Customers - Risk Management
  • Sequence Switching (after DA) with DTC
  • Field Interaction via Mobile PDAs

Tim de Grauw BE(Hons), MIEAust, GAICD, General Manager NSW, Alliance Power and Data

Tim is a professional electrical engineer with 15 years experience in the Power, Inlec (Instrumentation), and Control systems areas. He spent five years in BHP Billiton where he gained extensive experience in electrical engineering projects related to the mining industry. He then worked in Western Power where he gained experience in network design, planning, analysis, policy, network access, protection, and Control Centre operations.Tim was involved in the lead role in many strategic projects in BHP Billiton and in Western Power including being a key member of the team that implemented ENMAC DPA (Distribution Power Analysis) for the Western Power Control Centre, a project which received an Engineer's Australia excellence award in its category Following this Tim became Manager Engineering and then Managing Director at Alliance Power and Data.
